Richard Finney joins Blacksmiths Entertainment Talent Agency
The Spielberg's “Alien Zoo” developer, award-winning film producer, screenwriter (member of the WGA) and director Richard Finney has signed with Blacksmiths Entertainment.
Award-winning film producer, screenwriter (member of the WGA) and director Richard Finney has signed with Blacksmiths Entertainment.
Blacksmiths Entertainment will be representing with exclusive rights for China and Europe the filmmaker who has worked with some of the top talent in the industry including Steven Spielberg, George Clooney, Mel Gibson, Robert Downey Jr., Melissa Leo, Katherine Heigl, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Giovanni Ribisi.
His most recent project is Latest Work“ALIEN ZOO - The VR Experience," produced by Steven Spielberg and Walter Parkes. “ALIEN ZOO – The VR Experience”is based on the screenplay “Alien Zoo” that Finney created and developed with Spielberg and Parkes at DreamWorks Entertainment.
Finney has produced twelve films TV movies to date, including the award winning feature film,“100 Girls,” with Golden Globe winner, Katherine Heigl; and “Lullaby” starring Oscar winner Melissa Leo and directed by the acclaimed director Darrell Roodt (“Cry, the Beloved Country;” “Sarafina” and the Oscar nominated “Yesterday”).
Finney’s career as a screenwriter first began at Walt Disney Pictures working on the project that became the film “Robert Heinlein’s The Puppet Masters.” He teamed up with Daniel Petrie Jr. (“Beverly Hills Cop”) on the production rewrite for the Columbia Pictures release “Maximum Risk,” starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and directed by the legendary Hong Kong director, Ringo Lam. His next work as a screenwriter included developing his movie pitch sale to Cinema Line Entertainment, the production company behind the hit film, “Anaconda. Finney worked with Mel Gibson on a project that began with his pitch sale to Icon Productions.
Around this time, Finney broadened his scope and became a producer. His first production was an adaptation of the best-selling book by Andrew Neiderman (“The Devil’s Advocate”), “Perfect Little Angels” for ABC television. This was followed by the Lion’s Gate release, “100 Girls, starring Jonathan Tucker (“The Ruins”) Katherine Heigel (“Grey’s Anatomy”), and Jaime Pressley (“My Name is Earl”). “100 Girls” won the Best Picture award at the - Video Premiere Awards.
Finney’s biggest pitch sale was for“Alien Zoo," the project he created and personally sold to Steven Spielberg (after a bidding war involving three studios). For the next two years Finney worked with Spielberg and Walter Parkes to develop the project as a live action feature film. The project was later transferred to DreamWorks animation, where it was developed as an animation feature. Eventually the project ended up as the first Virtual Reality project created by the startup entertainment company, Dreamscape. Spielberg and Parkes launched “ALIEN ZOO - The VR Experience” in 2018 to critical acclaim and sold out shows.
Other projects produced by Finney include – “According to Spencer,” a romantic comedy (also released by Lion’s Gate) starring Jessie Bradford, Mia Kirshner (“The L word”), David Krumholtz (CBS series “Numbers”), Adam Goldberg (“Saving Private Ryan”) and Giovanni Ribisi (“Lost In Translation”); “All’s Faire in Love,” a comedy starring Christina Ricci (“The Opposite of Sex”) and Matthew Lillard (“Scooby Doo”;
“The Pact,” starring Megan Mullally (“Will and Grace”), based on the book by bestselling author Jodi Picoult. Finney has won other producing awards for two cult horror movies - “Carver” and “The 8th Plague,” both directed by Franklin Guerrero Jr.
Finney is the latest name Blacksmiths Entertainment has signed in the agency. Among recent signings are Jayson Thiessen “My Little Pony: The Movie” (2017) from Hasbro, Eric Summer “Leap!” (2016), Michael Donovan “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” (2016), Thierry Malet “Hacksaw Ridge” (2016), Khurram H. Spanish animation studio KEYTOON has signed with BLACKSMITHS ENTERTAINMENT.
The Valencia-based cartoon producer has signed with Blacksmiths Entertainment to help on the representation of the studio global family entertainment content properties and to represent the studio production services with worldwide exclusive rights.

In 2006 Keytoon managers traveled to San Francisco to meet at Pixar animation studios with Spanish animators working there. Rodrigo Blaas whose most recent works includes as Producer “Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia” and “3Below: Tales of Arcadia”(both by Guillermo del Toro) spoke with Keytoon of a short animated film entitled "Alma" he wanted to do for a long time and he thought that Keytoon had the quality to produce it.
The film has won numerous awards and was nominated for best animated short film at the Spanish film academy awards Goya. Since then the project has been on hands of Dreamworks for the realization of a long feature film intended to be produced by Guillermo del Toro. The short film produced by Keytoon included art designs produced by Carlos Grangel from the high-profile Barcelona-based Grangel Studio, Carlos won an Annie Award for his character designs for Spirit at Dreamworks Animation, and he has worked on several Oscar and Annie Award nominated projects--including Hotel Transylvania, How to Train Your Dragon, Kung Fu Panda, Madagascar, and Tim Burton's Corpse Bride. The animated short film includes as well designs from Sergio Pablos owner at The SPA Studios and producer, writer and director for the acclaimed animated film “Klaus” .
Keytoon's works has gained multiple accolades internationally, Keytoon's work Comcastic won a Golden Cyber Lion at Cannes 2006, where Keytoon created all characters.
TLC (Owner of Discovery Channel) won a gold Promax Life Lessons for work and gold Effie, where Keytoon created 3D figurines, and integrated the models on real images.
Disney Channel also won first prize at the Festival of Advertising and Communication “The Pacifier” thanks to Keytoon's work with “Incredible Christmas”. Three spots to announce the movie “The Incredibles” at Christmas 2006.
The short film Alma, nominated for the Goya 2010 awards for Best Animated Short Film and Best Animation Los Angeles Shorts Festival (July 2009). Blacksmiths Entertainment has signed a overall deal with the Spain-based animation studio Keytoon Animation.
The IP already has an animated TV series co-produced between Keytoon and the Germany’s Public Broadcaster NDR NORDDEUTSCHER RUNDFUNK where Keytoon holds the majority of the IP property rights. The 26 x 4’15” 3D animation Sitcom preschool series show has been aired to several territories including Spain, Korea, Singapur, Germany and having Disney for Japan. The series are available on Spanish and English languages and are directed by Jonathan Cuevas and based on a concept written by himself as well and with scripts from Silvia Campos.
“The main idea of this series is to give life to 3-D characters with sock look, remembering when we were children and our parents used to put the socks on their hands to make a sock puppet and then made us live lots of adventures by just opening and closing their hands.
The series is conceived to be enjoyed with the family with fun and dynamic stories.
Although this series is aimed at children, it will not leave adults indifferent, since in each of the episodes we will find very touching and human messages.
Hence in the different episodes, there are stories which will answer those questions that the smallest ones frequently ask and sometimes adults do not really know how to answer. All this is possible thanks to the combination of the emotional and didactic learning which the series offers. Based on previous studies which have been supervised by professionals specialized in early childhood education” –Said Jonathan Cuevas director for the series and Keytoon partner in a statement.
“The stories take place in a house, with homely and cozy environments, where the spectator will be able to get the warmth and comfort which every room shows. The kitchen is very important in the series since Tom spends a lot of time in it, and many times they all gather in it. Nico and Marie’s bedrooms are very important too and they show their personality included in the small details of the decoration.
The house has a wide and illuminated lighted living/dining room where we will see the characters at ease. Outside the house, we find a beautiful and flowered garden. There we can find anything: a circuit to train firefighters, a tent in the middle of the night or even strange animals...

Eric Summer starts his career in Brittany, France, directing shorts, advertising spots and corporate videos. He produces and directs « Phenomena », a four season series of documentaries. The series, filmed in the USA, have been sold in over 50 countries.
In 1998, he starts directing international TV series (« The New Adventures of Robin Hood », « 25 South », « Dark Realm »...) To this day, Eric has directed 19 TV movies and more than 150 episodes of numerous series, altering genres from thriller to comedy through fantasy and action.
He moves to Montreal, Canada, in 2001 and focuses on screenwriting. He writes his first English speaking script, « Angeline », a feminist thriller with a touch of humor. A French comic books publisher offers him to adapt the story as a graphic novel. « Angeline » becomes a series of four books published from 2004 to 2007. It wins the award for "best comics series" at a main comics Festival in France in December 2006. In 2008, he is called to direct a new TV series for French channel TF1, « Profilage » (« Profiling »). His artistic choices for cast and visual style make this show one of the most innovative for the audience and the press.
After meeting graphic designer Eric Warin in Montreal, Eric Summer writes the story of « Ballerina » (« Leap ! »), an animated movie that he co-directs. Thierry Malet composed original music for the film French/Mexican drama Tijuana Bible and performed by the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra.
The soundtrack was released digitally on July 24 . Tijuana Bible is directed by Jean-Charles Hue and stars Paul Anderson, Adriana Paz, Noé Hernandez, Giancarlo Ruiz, Jose Leonardo Carrera, Alfredo Alvarado, Yolanda Mez Garcia and Anthony A. Lobue.
Tijuana Bible is the name of a night club located on the Mexican border in the city of Tijuana. It is a place of perdition in particular for American soldiers.
This is the story of Nick, an American veteran injured in Iraq, lives in Zona Norte, Tijuana's red light district. Then he meets Ana, a young Mexican girl looking for her brother who has been missing for a few weeks. Together, they will dive into the slums of this city in the hands of drug traffickers.
In fact, this film is inspired by a true story, of a former veteran who converted and decided to help the poor who take refuge around an evacuation canal whose rainwater causes several deaths every year. A small community has formed around him and it is moreover his bus that we see in one of the scenes of this film. But beyond appearances, hides the meaning of life and of all these soldiers who are branded for life with a hot iron, psychologically destroyed because they took part in a war they did not understand. But in this place of perdition hides a spark of hope that will ultimately exceed all expectations in a huge fire.
That's what touched me in this film. The music is constantly shifting, it starts from rubbed timbres to turn it into poetry to sublimate reality and give it back all its beauty.
I started with violin strings played very close to the bridge to produce a rapy sound and almost abrupt symphonic textures. Voices and special effects were then added to place the listener in a new, almost unreal world, where forgiveness and remission are hidden but become possible.

Mr. Hand Solo
Documentary Mr. Hand Solo is the story of David Aguilar Amphoux aka "HandSolo"
a young man born with Poland Syndrome that affffected the development of his right arm.
His story of overcoming begins when at the age of 9 built his first prosthesis using Lego pieces.
After being delayed by the Covid-19 José Pozo finally finished his work for the documentary
Mr. Hand Solo.
Jose Pozo is a prolific creator with ample experience both in animation and fiction.
As a Director, he won the Goya Award for best animated feature for EL CID,
THE LEGEND (2004) and as Creative Producer for NOCTURNA (2008).
He also directed DONKEY XOTE (2007) and participated in various features
and animated series for Filmax as Executive Producer.
In 2013 he wrote and directed the feature fictional film NICK (2013),
a project shot in English that won 11 international awards.
His fourth feature as a director and screenwriter is 73 MINUTES (2018)
featuring the outstanding performances of Alain Hernández, Elisabet Terri and Pep Munné.
Simultaneously, he Executive Produced the Original Netflix feature SOLO (2018) by Hugo Stuven
and has just produced THE CARIBBEAN, ALL INCLUSIVE (2020), the directorial debut of Miguel García de la Calera
and the documentary film MR. HAND SOLO (2020) directed by Hector Romance.
